![]() So maybe you sit this out and wait to see what happens the next few months.Īnd all the above being said, the current X300U-A is a fantastic light.I have a 600 lumen X300 that I used as my duty light, but upgraded to a 1000 lumen. That might not be the case when Cloud Defensive's pistol light(s) hit the market and when the X300T-A is available. But they are still better than anything currently on the market. It is true that the reported outputs by modlite for the P元50 aren't correct. I personally have a P元50 and I have a PLH, PLHv2 and OKW head and I prefer the OKW or PLHv2 heads for the pistol. ![]() I don't personally understand it, but if you want to have something worse when you need something great, it's your ship, sink it how you'd like. I've seen many a person offer the "white walls, you will blind yourself, get a worse light" argument a lot. I'd assume the new Surefire X300T-A would be right on par with that. Malkoff/Arisaka has a 500 lumen, 55k candela weapon light and it is incredible at everything. The higher candela will actually give plenty of spill and the brighter hotspot is nice for PID, overcoming photonic barriers and beating someone else's light. In regards to the new X300T-A, they bumped up candela considerably, I think by about 500% and dropped lumens by 50%. Lumens isn't as important as candela in a weapon light. I don't think everyone should go out and trash their U-boats though, it's still a very capable light. I think it's less critical than a LEO, but still probably a good investment. Your engagement distances are going to be very short, and as mentioned you might consider going fully over into the IR spectrum.įor LEO use I think the extra lumens on a P元50 are crucial since often your handgun is your primary weapon outdoors.ĭisclaimer, I'm not a LEO, that's just my SWAG.įor a CCW, I don't think there's anything wrong with the additional lumens on a P元50. Secondly if your use case is primarily as a CQB backup, you don't really need an uber bright light. An IR light gives you the option to run a daylight bright rmr dot and still make engagements in total darkness. If you're primarily running a handgun under night vision this is something you may want. I'm not saying that I would turn my nose at a more powerful light, but there are other factors to consider here.įirstly IR capability. I think your handgun use case is going to matter a lot here.
